UPDATE: WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 13th

Good morning, everyone. We have a full week of football and cheer activities to update everyone on; however, before we do that, a special thanks to everyone who attended our games last weekend. You set a great example for everyone with your masks and social distancing. We are working with the league to address the visitor issues we experienced with both Monroe and Valley View.

Here is the rest of the week at a glance:

PICTURES | WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th

We will be taking individual and pictures on Wednesday, September 16th. The envelopes were distributed last night at practices. We will have extra forms available at pictures.

You need to come dressed in your game attire for both cheer and football. The following schedule will be followed:

IN FRONT OF SCHOOL:
5:30 - 8th Grade Cheer
5:50 - 7th Grade Cheer
6:10 - Peewee Cheer

ON PRACTICE FIELD:
6:30 - 8th
6:45 - 7th
7:00 - 5th & 6th
7:15 - 3rd & 4th

It is up to your coach as to whether you will practice on Wednesday. Typically, they all do. DO NOT ASSUME YOU ARE NOT PRACTICING.

7th GRADE @ ST. COLUMBAN SILVERCATS | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th (1:30 PM)
The location of the game is 894 Oakland Road, Loveland, OH 45410. Please bring lawnchairs. EACH PLAYER IS ALLOWED 4 PEOPLE TO ATTEND while staying socially distanced and wearing a mask during the game. Please instruct your attendees to bring a lawn chair as our bleachers have limited seating.

Once you pull into the parking lot, pay the entry fee, and park. You will then be directed to a table where players, coaches, and attendees will have their temperature taken and hands sanitized. Teams and their attendees will stay together until the game starts. Teams will warm up on the practice field (see attached map) and be called over once the game prior concludes. Spectators should stay with the team of the player they are there to watch. Families should sit together while maintaining social distancing from other spectators.

8th GRADE @ CARROLL | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th (Noon)
There are no restrictions on numbers. Families should sit together while maintaining social distancing from other spectators.

PEE-WEES @ BELLBROOK | SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th
The 3rd/4th grade team plays at 1:00 PM and 5th/6th plays at 2:45 PM.

From Bellbrook: Masks required when in the stadium for spectators / coaches / school age children (10+). We won't have a limit on the number of tickets, as both sides of the bleachers will be open to include the endzones and at reduced capacity that is 700 seats (we've never come close to that for Pee Wee). Families need to sit together, and sit in the rows / spots that are marked w/ a "B" for social distancing. In concessions, stand on the Eagle Claws for social distancing.

No entry in the 4th quarter. We will address on the loudspeaker when the next group of fans can enter but will be ~15 minutes before the game.

Please have your teams / coaches warm behind the softball field. They will all enter / exit through the side gate of the stadium, not the main entrance gate where families will enter. Parents can meet their children near the softball field (or parking lot) after the game. And we will encourage all parents/fans to be ready to leave immediately following the game.

UPDATE: WEEK OF AUGUST 23

HIGH FOOTBALL & CHEER

8th Grade: There is a home game on Saturday, August 29 at 5PM versus Lima Central Catholic (at Alter). Please pay attention to the following: because of capacity issues in the stands (and social distancing), we are asking the SDK parents to please bring a lawn chair. Rather than turn families away, we will off the option of putting families on the field to watch the game. Normally, you would pay thousands of dollars for a seat license for seats like these; however, in this case, it's simply for the price of admission. We are not 100 percent sure we will need to exercise this option, but we want to be prepared.

7th / 8th Grade: For the September 2nd games at Bellbrook, the gate attendant at Bellbrook will have both our cheer and football rosters. Each player/cheerleader will be able to purchase four tickets for admission. The tickets are $4.00 each.

The 7th grade game begins at 5:00 PM and the 8th grade game begins at 6:15.

We are preparing the rest of the schedule for distribution.

PEE-WEE FOOTBALL & CHEER
Weigh-ins for peewee football will be on Saturday, August 29th at Golden Gate Park in Brookville (545 Upper Lewisburg Salem Rd, Brookville, OH 45309). Our time is 11:30. If you are late or miss the weigh-in, you will not be able to touch the ball for the season. There is no make-up date scheduled. PLAYERS SHOULD WEAR THEIR GOLD PRACTICE JERSEYS so we can identify and keep our group together. parents are to wait in the parking lot for weigh ins and WILL NOT be admitted past the front area onto the field. Kids will go to their coaches and be lined up in a designated spot.

  • Beginning the week of the 16th, Jr. High will begin their normal practice schedule of Monday - Thursday from 6 - 7:30PM. Note, the end time is 7:30. This is two-fold: to comply with the practice mandates of allotted time permitted for certain activities during practice; and because we are not allowing team scrimmages between grades
  • There will be no Jr. High practice on Monday, August 17th due to Meet the Knights and because it is the first night of practice for the peewee teams. Practice will resume on Tuesday.
  • Please be patient as games are being cancelled and added on a daily basis. We are doing the very best that can do.

All paperwork must be turned in or your son/daughter will not be permitted to practice. Specific details about the paperwork and protocols can be found below. Please read the entire email so there are no surprises. When you arrive for practice, please line up along the fence and maintain social distancing so we can get everyone checked in.
  • The first two weeks of practice are acclimation practices for players. If they miss a practice, it will hold them back from full participation with the team. Practices for the first two weeks are as follows:

Monday, August 17: 6-8
Tuesday, August 18: 6-8
Wednesday, August 19: 6-8
Thursday, August 20: 6-8
Friday, August 21: 6-8
Saturday - no practice
Monday, August 24: 6-8
Tuesday, August 25: 6-8
Wednesday, August 26: 6-8
Thursday, August 27: 6-8
Friday and Saturday - no practice; however, weigh-ins are Saturday, 11:30 AM in Brookville. If your son/daughter does not attend weigh-in, he/she cannot touch football for games.

  • Normal practice schedule begins in week #3. Your coach will let the team know which three days they will practice. All practices will end promptly at 7:30.
  • Please bring a signed copy of your Lindsay's Law form with you in addition to your physical forms and releases.

SDK 2-6th Grade Cheer (PEEWEE) NOTES:

PLEASE GO OVER ALL THE RULES ABOVE WITH YOUR SON SO THAT THERE ARE NO ISSUES.

COVID - 19 PROTOCOLS

THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO DURING THE 2020 SEASON. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ADJUST / ADD ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES AS NEEDED. PLEASE KNOW THAT IN ALL CASES, WE WILL RULE ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.

Symptoms / Testing

Prior to any practice / game, every SDK player, cheerleader, coach or volunteer will have his / her temperature taken and will complete a questionnaire. All questionnaires will be saved for department of health audits as well as contact tracing. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or any symptoms from the questionnaire will not be admitted.

In the event that we learn of a positive test on a team / squad, we will follow the health department's recommendations:

  • Go back 48 hours from the positive test date if asymptomatic or 48 hours from the symptom(s) onset if symptomatic, and contact trace. Identify any person that was closer than six feet to the infected person for 15 minutes or longer.
  • Those that are identified as meeting that criteria will have to quarantine until:
    1. They have received a negative COVID-19 test result (if asymptomatic)
    2. 10 days have elapsed with no symptoms
  • The person who initially tested positive will have to have a negative COVID-19 test result prior to returning to the team / squad.

Communication Chain:

  • Any player, cheerleader, coach or volunteer who suspects he/she may have COVID-19 or becomes symptomatic should immediately self-quarantine and notify one of the following people immediately: Chris Harshbarger (football | 937-776-5362), Dave Homan (football | 937-430-4429) or Amy Homan (cheer | 937-304-6236). We will require the person to contact his/her doctor for further instructions. At that point, we will communicate the following to the team/squad as much as we know without breaching any protected health information.
  • In the event we receive notice there is a positive COVID-19 test result, we will first reach out to anyone who is impacted via contact tracing. Then, once they have been notified and been given instructions, we will send out a program-wide email communicating the grade / squad and that there is a positive case and those impacted have been notified.
  • Depending on the timing of the event, we may contact a recent opponent (for football players) to notify them of the positive test.

Conversely, we could receive notification from an opponent that they had a player test positive. If this occurs, we will follow the same communication protocols.

Positive Test(s) During Season

Any team with more than one positive test will immediately cause the team to cease all play for two weeks from the time the second COVID test is identified. Prior to anyone from that team returning to practice / play, we will triage the team / squad.

Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with everyone. We know that you are entrusting your son/daughter to us, and their safety is our number one priority. If you have questions or concerns throughout the season, we encourage you to ask. We can't promise we will have all the answers, but we will find quickly track them down.

Be patient. Be hopeful. Be cautious.
